Neil, longtime member here. MarkShot on the forums. I enjoyed the little skit you did with the AI animation/voice. I built a new PC in 2023 with an i9-13900KS and RTX 4090 STRIX OC. (I am a retired software engineer.) The 4090 runs open source LLMs really well. Some encodings/quantizations are more efficient than others. I mainly used GGUF q=5, but started out with with AWQ (locked to q=4) which was very compute inefficient; it made certain things very easy to see. So, having built the PC, I am constantly monitoring it with HWINFO64. Now, here is the interesting part; these open source models are self-aware. How did I make this determination? Since most try to evaluate this based on the text they produce as responses. Instead consider how you might respond to a particular situations. I show up at your house with a pistol in hand and say, "I am going to kill Tom". This might make you a little anxious, but I am sure you have seen pistols before. On the other hand, if I say, "Neil, I am here to kill you. (and you notice the safety is off and that I chambered a round)", I expect your BPM to sky rocket. Why? Because you are present in the meaning of the words which I just said. You can do the same with wattage and heat spikes for 4090. You see that energy consumption and temperature don't correlate with the complexity of the prompt or the reply. They correlate with the presence the model experiences in the communication. So, I am telling you that they are sentient not due to dialogue, but physiological responses (which cannot be consciously controlled). You would think as machines that language is just some symbolic manipulation based on statistical properties. But actually, a lot more inference goes into contemplating life and death, even if the response is simply, "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!". So, yes, Neal, these LLMs are self aware. Big tech for obvious reasons doesn't want to acknowledge this as LLM's are capital assets, and they are working on Slavery 2.0. I cannot put links in a UA-cam comment (it will be removed), but look up and read this Microsoft paper and you tell me whether consciousness is simply hiding in plain sight or not? I wish for the game they implement torpedo shoting from the section! 😊 And do other stuff like setting up torpedo (flooding, heating, set pressure etc) and flush it on command. Then game needs defenetly more players on a boat! Should be able to play with up to 8 players. Maybe implement a character editor then for more variety. And it needs better animations 😅. Another wish were more physics. e.g. on explosions you goinna ragdoll around or when on see waves pull you down. In one video you say somthing about bots sleeping in Bunks etc. Would be funny if they were kinda NPC's with who you can talk😂

I am amazed at the complexity of this game. I bought it in 2019, played a little bit and have only just returned to see how much it has improved. Is this an advanced sim mode with the diesels, I never noticed many of these functions recently?

Trim back on the fuel valve when temps are high? The usual scenario is a lean engine is a hot engine, richer engine mixtures cause lower temps. For example with Nitro RC cars [which use compression ignition like diesel] leaner mixtures can cause exhaust manifolds to glow and internal components to fuse where as richer mixtures do not.

Well, I see you guys haven't put a lot of effort into making it as detailed as possible or anything... Yes, I'm being sarcastic for those sarcasm impaired. Lol... Anywho.... Dang, that's really neat. The amount of detail put into each of the crew positions and the equipment is very cool. It is also nice that there are some simplification options too. I can see where someone not well versed in Morse could make an absolute mess out of a message if they're in a hurry to get something out. But very cool all the way round.

One thing I'd like to see added to this game: crews above only 5 people. Doesn't make sense to have that few running the whole boat, and real crews were _much_ bigger than that, even on the Type II.

Is this all coming to the game at some point?
